Lubbock’s coffee scene is small, local and growing. Gold Stripe and Monomyth roast their own coffee, J&B has been serving the city since 1979 and stays open until late evening, and Ninety-Two brings a French-style bakery to south Lubbock. All six cafés in this guide are on Visit Lubbock’s 2026 Coffee Trail, so they’re the local names to know. Most open at 7:00; J&B is the one for an evening coffee.
The photos are Sasha’s own, taken on her trip to Lubbock. Addresses, hours and drinks come from each café’s own website, checked in October 2026; where a café doesn’t publish something, we name the source we used. We haven’t added tasting notes we can’t stand behind.
Updated October 2026: removed Starbucks and Tumbleweed & Sage, which announced its closing in 2023. Merged the two Gold Stripe entries and the duplicate Ninety-Two entry, rechecked every café’s address and hours, and added four more places worth a look.
The short version
- Gold Stripe and Monomyth roast their own coffee.
- For a late coffee, J&B on 26th Street is open until 21:00 or later every day.
- Ninety-Two Bakery & Café is the pick for pastries, with a French-inspired bakery menu.
- He-Brews sits by Buddy Holly Lake, with a patio facing the water.
The numbers are for finding your way, not a ranking. The list keeps the local cafés from the first version of this guide that are still open, in the same order. Hours are as each café published them in October 2026; where a café doesn’t publish them, we say so.
