The coffee market is getting bigger than ever.

There are countless new coffee drink recipes, concepts, and methods for preparing the ideal cup.

But did you know that the French Vanilla Cappuccino recipe has always stood out?

Yup, although you might associate French vanilla more with ice cream, it can also be used to produce a delicious coffee drink. Imagine a cappuccino made with smooth, steamed milk, a whole vanilla bean, and a sprinkle of brown sugar. It could easily be your go-to coffee!

French Vanilla Cappuccino is undoubtedly one of the most loved coffee drinks. People who don’t drink much coffee would’ve probably heard of it, too.

So, if you’re looking for a simple, fast, and affordable homemade cappuccino recipe, then we got you.

What is an Iced Strawberry Latte?

At a glance, a Cappuccino has three equal parts:

  • one third espresso
  • one third steamed milk
  • one third milk foam or froth milk

It’s very popular around the world, especially in Europe. It was first made in Italy and it was named after the Capuchin friars because the color of the frothed milk and espresso was a close match to the robe worn by them.

What is French Vanilla Cappuccino?

French vanilla is one of the most popular flavors at any coffee shop.

This drink is a  pleasure for vanilla lovers. It combines the flavor of a cappuccino with a strong vanilla flavor. It smells amazing and is velvety and creamy.

It’s made with espresso, steamed milk, and foam that has been flavored with vanilla syrup or bean paste. Sipping on a French Vanilla Cappuccino is a great way to relax and unwind at the end of the day.

These are addictive, and if bought often – your expenses will rise quickly. But don’t worry, you don’t have to completely give up cappuccinos. Making them at home will help you save a few dollars, and we’ll show you how later on.

How Does It Taste?

It tastes like coffee. But instead of a regular strong coffee taste, it’s actually sweeter. Plus, the texture is creamier.

The French vanilla cappuccino recipe is a rich, packed coffee with a creamy and sweet flavor. It is frequently referred to as “French Vanilla” and is very common in the US. The vanilla beans give this type of coffee its unique flavor.

It also has a hint of earthy coffee, foamy milk, and warm nutmeg in it. Definitely, something you don’t want to miss!

In this guide, we’ll share with you a French vanilla cappuccino recipe that’s remarkably easy to make at home.

Let’s begin with the ingredients.

Ingredients You’ll Need

  • Milk. For a very rich, creamy beverage, we recommend using whole milk. However, you can always choose the milk you like. But if you’re aiming for the best results, whole milk or 2% milk is the key.
  • Sugar. You can use just the regular plain white sugar. Depending on how sweet you want the beverage to be, you can add more or less. Note that a typical French Vanilla is quite sweet. Brown sugar can also be used. Note that light brown sugar will result in a delicate flavor, while dark brown sugar will give you a richer and deeper flavor.
  • Brewed Coffee or Espresso Shots. You can use any method you prefer to make coffee, but it’s good to note that authentic French vanilla cappuccinos are made with freshly ground espresso. If you want an even stronger vanilla flavor in your drink, you can use a vanilla-flavored coffee. Want the coffee to be stronger? You can use two shots of espresso, too. Your drink, your rules.
  • Vanilla Bean Paste. This is the secret to obtaining a powerful vanilla flavor. We recommend getting Madagascar bourbon vanilla beans if you can. Although it’s difficult to find vanilla bean paste, it’s still possible. Vanilla bean paste is significantly stronger than vanilla extract and it also contains visible vanilla bean fragments. It will absolutely get you the right vanilla flavor you want your French vanilla cappuccino to taste.
  • Vanilla Syrup. If you don’t have vanilla Bean Paste, vanilla syrup could be an alternative. You can use homemade or store-bought vanilla syrup. For homemade, You just need water, white granulated sugar, a vanilla bean, or vanilla extract. For store-bought, many coffee shops choose the Torani brand, although other brands are also available.
  • Ground Cinnamon. This is optional. But we recommend using this to garnish your French Vanilla Cappuccino. The warm, full, slightly fruity, and peppery smell of cinnamon definitely completes the drink.

How To Make French Vanilla Cappuccino

  1. Brew Your Coffee – Two shots of espresso will give you the greatest flavor, but strongly brewed coffee is also delicious. It’s also best to grind the espresso beans before extracting the shots to achieve the best flavor.
  2. Steam Your Milk – Add the milk to a pan and turn the heat to medium. To prevent the milk from burning, make sure to stir it frequently. Once the milk starts to show bubbles, you may rest it from the heat.
  3. Froth Your Milk – Use a milk frother if you have one. If not, raise the steaming wand tip above the milk’s surface to create the froth. You should hear a hissing sound. If you don’t hear anything, then you’ll not be able to make a nice froth. You should have enough foam to fill up about 1/3 of the drink.
  4. Assemble Your Drink – Start by adding the vanilla bean or vanilla syrup at the bottom of the glass. Then, pour the espresso and stir. Lastly, add the milk and use a spoon to place the milk foam on top of your drink.
  5. Enjoy Your Creation – Serve hot and savor your French vanilla cappuccino coffee with a dash of cinnamon on top! Congratulations, you’ve just made a great cappuccino in the comfort of your home. Enjoy!

Tips From the Experts

Most of the variations of French vanilla cappuccino would depend on your preferences and the equipment you already have at home. And to help you make the best French vanilla cappuccino, here are a few tips you can try.

  • To prevent burning while the milk is simmering, always make sure to stir it occasionally.
  • Once the milk has begun to simmer, keep a close eye on it to make sure it does not boil over, then reduce the heat.
  • You can also use whole vanilla bean pods in this recipe. If vanilla bean paste is not available, you may cut the vanilla bean in half and boil it with the milk.
  • Hot cocoa mix is a popular addition to French vanilla cappuccinos. Simply add a teaspoon, or more, to your cappuccino. Alternatively, you could simply sprinkle some hot cocoa mix on top of the cappuccino.
  • You can also add heavy cream to the mix.  Replace some or all of the milk with cream while maintaining the same volume of liquid. Doing this will make your drink exceptionally rich, similar to French vanilla ice cream.
  • You can also add whipped cream on top to complete your drink.
