10 best coffee shops in Tucson, from local roasters

Presta was founded on the idea that coffee is meant to be shared, and has served Tucson for more than ten years, according to Presta. Its original café is inside the Mercado San Agustín, an open-air market full of local vendors and restaurants, with seats at the bar and on the patio.

Presta roasts its own coffee, with new single origins coming and going through the year. It has two more cafés: one on 9th Street, a block off 4th Avenue, and one on Sunrise Drive in the Catalina Foothills that opened in January 2026.

Raging Sage is a family micro-roastery that aims to deliver its coffee “in the most sustainable way,” according to Raging Sage. Roger and Julie Sliker opened it in 1998, and Julie and her daughter Shelby have run it since Roger died in 2010, Tucson Foodie reported.

The café is just north of Grant Road, in a low building covered in vines, with a patio. Its website hasn’t been updated in several years, so check its hours before you go.

Caffe Luce is a café on Congress Street in the heart of downtown, serving coffee, craft beer and wine with small plates, according to the Downtown Tucson Partnership. It works for a quiet morning coffee or an evening with friends.

The room is tall and bright, with a staircase, big windows and paintings along the walls. Hotel Congress and its Cup Café are a few steps away.

Cartel is an Arizona roaster with cafés around Phoenix and two in Tucson. It gives each café a “vibe”, and the Campbell Avenue one, at Campbell and Grant, is “Willie Nelson during finals week,” according to Cartel.

Both Tucson cafés are open every day from 6:00 to 19:00, which makes Cartel one of the easier late-afternoon stops. The second is downtown on Broadway, with its own vibe: “Bruce Springsteen sharing a pizza with Björk.”

Exo roasts its own coffee on 6th Avenue, north of downtown, and sells it by the bag and on subscription, according to Exo. The range includes its Devil’s Claw blend and single origins from Mexico to Ethiopia.

The café has a long dark bar, a brick wall and wooden floors. Exo also runs Bar Crisol. Its website’s hours page didn’t load for us, so check its Instagram before you go.

Anna Perreira founded Yellow Brick in 2011, and her brother David joined her to open their first café in 2014 on South Dodge Boulevard. In 2023 they opened their flagship café at The Benedictine, near the University of Arizona, according to Yellow Brick.

Yellow Brick roasts single origins to order, with a roast profile for each origin and the roast date on every bag. The Benedictine café has a kitchen with breakfast, lunch and pastries made in-house, and there’s a walk-up window in the Historic Courthouse downtown.

Decibel was started by Nick Hoenig and Dana Fehr, musicians and audio engineers who brought the music and art communities into their coffee company, according to Decibel. It roasts its own coffee and buys from sustainable sources.

This café is at the MSA Annex, a small shopping center built from shipping containers next to the Mercado San Agustín. A second Decibel is at the Sol Block on Broadway.

Savaya owner Burc Maruflu grew up in Istanbul learning coffee from his grandmother, Neriman. She was known as “the girl who brewed Atatürk’s favorite coffee,” and that line is carved on her tombstone, according to Savaya.

Savaya is locally owned and has several cafés around Tucson; this one is at Williams Centre on Broadway. It also runs coffee classes and sells beans to take home.

Tucson Coffee Roasters has been roasting locally “in the Old Pueblo” for more than ten years, according to Tucson Coffee Roasters. Its menu runs from lattes and French press to lemonade, and it sells its beans online.

Ombre is a roaster and café in historic Broadway Village. It roasts and ships its coffee every Monday and Friday, and its blends have names like Buttercup, Picky Nicky and Blue Yodel, according to Ombre.

The café opens early every day and closes at the oddly precise time of 14:05. Inside there’s a mint espresso machine, a tiled bar and white stools.
